Good morning friends!

Today is the day. We are so excited to welcome you to The Hope Center here in Plano, TX for the first day of the 2024 Ciceronian Society conference.

If you’re up for it, consider joining us for a time of Morning Prayer starting at 8am CST this morning at the Hope Center in Conference Room A.

On your way in, be sure to find our table to grab a program and your name tag.

Please note that The Hope Center is a completely non-smoking facility, including the parking lots and garage. No tobacco or vaping products may be used. Guests may smoke by the road along Plano Parkway or Custer Road.

What’s for lunch?

Thursday’s lunch will be a Taco Bar from Rock & Brews restaurant. For those avoiding gluten, dairy, and meat, we’ve requested lettuce, rice, beans ,and veggies to make salads.

As a reminder, dinner is not included with registration, so consider making plans on your own or with the folks you meet today.

(Josh recommends Lockhart Smokehouse, but get there before they run out!)

Hospitality Suite Update

The locations of the Hospitality Suite are below, but we have updated times and guidelines.

BYOB alcohol is allowed at the Holiday Inn, but it must NOT leave that room. We must be out of there by 11pm each night

BYOB alcohol is NOT allowed the Courtyard, but there is a bar there that sells drinks. We must be out of there by 11:30pm each night

Sharing Rooms, Rides, and Contact Info

As an all-volunteer organization, we have yet to find an efficient, safe, and affordable way to help facilitate room and ride sharing for attendees. This year is no exception, and we are very open to suggestions and ideas. As it is, you’ll probably want to use Uber, Lyft or rent a car.

And if you’re willing to give folks a ride, maybe wait around in the two hotel lobbies, and consider printing and holding up this sign and see if anyone takes you up on it!

Once the conference gets going, you’ll hopefully make connections for ride sharing for the rest of the event.

Prayer Time

Anyone is welcome to join us at 8am on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at the Hope Center in conference room A for an abridged version of Morning Prayer as found in the Book of Common Prayer (2019, ACNA). All are welcome.

The Hospitality Suites

This year, we are fortunate to have TWO hospitality suites at our respective hotels. Registered attendees 21 and older can enjoy alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages in the company of fellow attendees for extended informal discussion.

Meeting rooms in each of the conference hotels will be open from 7:30ish to 11:00pm (Holiday Inn) and 11:30pm (Courtyard) for this hospitality on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. The Ciceronian Society will provide snacks, cups, non-alcoholic drinks and mixers, and some limited amounts of alcohol at the Holiday Inn. Attendees are welcome and encouraged to bring some other beverages of their choice.

Food

Coffee, water, tea, and light snacks are available throughout the conference. Lunch is catered and dinner is at the discretion of attendees.
